Sydney Alexander is an artist from San Antonio Texas and Albuquerque New Mexico, with a focus on photography and painting.
She is currently a young adult studying at Brigham Young University seeking her masters in Family Sciences with a minor in Global Women's Studies and LDS Theology. She began photography her sophomore year of high school and has taken art classes with all mediums throughout her life. "I have been doing art my entire life. In my earliest years my parents instilled in me the importance of art: to express and communicate my thoughts and emotions. Creating something that is my very own enables me to establish who I am in this world. I believe God has given us the gift to create and design all facets of our lives. I have been blessed with the gift to create paintings, drawings, and photographs of His creations. When I paint, it doesn't matter what is going on in the world, what heartaches I have, or my imperfections. To learn new techniques in art, I work closely with my art teacher at school in creating portfolios for the end of this year. I am also active in my school’s art club and run a photography social media account where I sell prints of my art. My photographs have also won awards in competitions both at school and among Texas’ art community including the "Sounds like KPAC" competition for TPR radio (88.3). Additionally, my art is currently being shown at my high school district’s central office. Art is my passion- it’s more than a career choice or something to study, it is what occupies every corner of my heart and is the core of who I am." She does photo shoots for events, individuals, groups and prints of any of her other photographs as well- any inquiries can be emailed to her from the email linked on the homepage, sent in messenger on her facebook (also linked on the homepage) and any advice or comments can be sent to her on the "contact" page. Her Instagram account for her photography is linked on the homepage, and it is called @sydneysgalaxy and her personal Instagram account is @sydneysworld, it includes her life as well as her painting commissions and competitions. |
"Look and think before opening the shutter. The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera." "If it's a likeness, alone, it's not a success. If, through my portraits, you can come to know the subjects more meaningfully, if it synthesizes your feelings toward someone whose work has imprinted itself on your mind--if you see a photograph and say, 'Yes, this is the person,' with a little new insight--that is a beautiful experience." -Yousuf Karsh |
This website is focused solely on my photography
I have a personal blog as well with posts about my life and what I have learned :) It also includes more of my art: I do painting commissions as well as some drawings and sculpture, and poetry (the ones I have finished are in the "Other Art Mediums" button). |
